Introduction

With an objective of making the work permit application process simpler and more streamlined, the Chinese authorities have transitioned the online application system to a new website. Action will now be required for employers to reset their passwords.

Impact:
High

What has changed?

The online work permit application system in China has been migrated to a new website called “The National Human Resources and Social Security Government Service Platform”. This has led to certain actions now being required from employers seeking to apply for a work permit for a foreign national. Employers previously registered on the old government website must now reset their password on the new platform. They may also be required to resubmit certain documents for pending applications if requested by the authorities.

What to expect /impact?

In order to continue making applications, the Employer will need to complete the requirement to reset passwords. Without doing so, no new application or ongoing application will be able to progress. It is also prudent to expect that while the new system is implemented, there may be the occasional technical issue.
