Introduction
On the 6th December the Australian authorities launched the new visa subclass 858, also to be known as the National Innovation Visa (NIV). The new visa stream will be applicable for candidates who can evidence an internationally recognized record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in a profession, a sport, the arts, or academia and research.

What has changed?
The Australian visa programme has introduced a new visa subclass 858, the National Innovation Visa (NIV). Once obtained, this visa subclass will be for permanent residence. The candidate can be any age on the date of application and there are no restricted occupations.
